DAY ONE

Paper Pinwheel

If you’re going to the beach or the terrace for some breeze, take a paper pinwheel along! The more the colours and patterns, the better the effect of this pinwheel paper craft! It’s very easy to make and is perfect for the summer.

Parental involvement: Medium

Duration: 15 minutes

Skills Acquired: Creative, Fine Motor, Curiosity

Materials:

  1. Coloured paper
  2. Toothpick
  3. Straw
  4. Glue
  5. A pair of scissors

Instructions:

  1. Cut out a square from a coloured A4 sheet.
  2. Fold the paper diagonally, unfold it, and repeat from the other corner.
  3. On each folding mark, measure the centre.
  4. Cut from the outside towards the mark on each folding.
  5. Stick every alternate fold at the centre of the square.
  6. Make a hole in the centre and insert a toothpick.
  7. Stick the other end of the toothpick to the tip of a straw.

Face the wind and watch the magic!

You can also add patterns and colours on the pinwheel for a mesmerising effect!
 

DAY TWO

Thumbprint Art: Modes Of Transport

Does your child love vehicles? Does he/she get struck in wonder on looking at different modes of transport? Well, we have the perfect activity for your automobile lover! Are you ready for thumb printing art transportation booklet?

Parental Involvement: Medium

Duration: 20 minutes

Skills Acquired: Fine Motor, Imagination, Creativity

Materials:

  • Paints
  • White paper
  • Sketch pens
  • Punching machine
  • Ribbon
  • Your thumb, of course!

Instructions:

  1. Cut sheets of paper of the same size. Punch holes on top and tie a ribbon through it.
  2. Write ‘Modes Of Transport’ on the front page.
  3. Add thumbprints of different colours on every page. Using sketch pens, add features such as windows, clouds, doors, engines, etc. to form vehicles.
  4. Use your imagination! Have loads of fun!

DAY THREE

Catapult Carnival

What do you do if you have too many enemies and a number of leftover ice cream sticks? Build a catapult of course—and have a ball of a time while doing so with this amazing ice cream stick craft catapult! Teach your child about launchers and help him/her construct a simple catapult in less than no time!

Parental involvement: High

Duration: 15 minutes

Skills Acquired: Play, Thinking, Discover

Materials:

  1. Ice cream sticks
  2. Paint
  3. Paint brush
  4. Rubber bands
  5. Bottle cap
  6. Tape

Instructions:

  1. Paint 7 ice cream sticks and leave them to dry.
  2. Bunch five sticks together with rubber bands on both ends.
  3. String two more sticks with  a rubber band on one end.
  4. Place the bigger bundle between the two sticks and tie them.
  5. Stick a bottle cap to the upper stick.
  6. Place light materials in the cap, press it downwards and release it.

Up, up, and away!
 

DAY FOUR

3D Ladybugs

Does your child like the Beetle car? Does she/he know where the name originated from and what the car has been designed to resemble? A beetle, the bug, of course! Teach your child to create a 3D art paper ladybugs craft by following our easy steps! These will look good as decorations and also as greeting cards for occasions!

Parental involvement: Medium

Duration: 10 minutes

Skills Acquired: Creative, Fine Motor, Curiosity

Materials:

  1. Black, green, and pink paper
  2. Black sketch pen
  3. Circular object
  4. White and black paint

Instructions:

  1. Draw circles on pink paper and cut them out.
  2. Draw dots on the circles.
  3. Draw and cut out a face.
  4. Fold the circles and stick them side by side on the green sheet.
  5. Stick the head.
  6. Paint eyes and add the antennae.

Your ladybug in 3D is ready!

Your child can also add more effect to it by adding legs and hands!
 

DAY FIVE

Comb Windmill Art

It’s 8 am—time to get ready for school! Is your child’s hair all neat and combed? Speaking of combs, how about using the comb as a tool of art to come up with textured patterns? Let’s make a waste material craft windmill activity of a wind-generating windmill with a comb and fill it with colourful streaks!

Parental involvement: Medium

Duration: 15 minutes

Skills Acquired: Sensory, Creativity, Fine Motor

Materials:

  1. Comb
  2. Paint
  3. Sketch pens

Instructions:

  1. Draw a circle in the centre.
  2. Spread out coloured paint around the circle.
  3. Gently drag the comb through the paints to form blades.
  4. Sketch the remaining parts of windmill!

Your windmill with rotating blades is ready!

With a comb, you can also create a scenery of rainbows and clouds. There is no restriction to imagination, is there?
