Materials
- Clay – different colours
- Cutter
Instructions For Incredible Deep Earth Activity
- Keep clay of different colours ready. We are using red, orange, yellow, brown, blue, and green.
- Roll a small portion of the red clay.
- Flatten enough orange clay. place the red clay ball on it. Roll the orange around it.
- Repeat the same with clay of yellow, brown, and blue colours.
- Add small bits of the green clay on the blue. These are the continents. Your mini Earth is ready!
- Use a cutter to cut the mini Earth in half.
What do you see?
Use these halves to teach your child about the different layers of the earth. The innermost layer is known as the inner core. The layer above it is called the outer core. And then, come the layers of mantle and crust. You may also encourage them to mark each layer with a piece of paper.
Playing with clay renders a good sensory experience for your child. Their creativity is tickled as they play with clay.
