Incredible Earth Activity For Children: Mini Globe

Materials

  1. Newspapers
  2. A4 sheet
  3. Paint
  4. Paintbrush
  5. Tape
  6. Glue
  7. Paper clip
  8. Wooden stick
  9. Bottle cap
  10. A pair of scissors

Instructions For Incredible Earth Mini Globe Activity

  • Tear small bits of the newspaper and roll it into a ball.
  • Wrap the tape around the newspaper ball.
  • Tear small bits of an A4 sheet and keep them aside.
  • In a bowl, mix some water and glue.
  • Dip the paper bits in the glue solution and stick them on the newspaper ball. Leave this to dry.
  • Once dry, paint the ball in blue for ocean and green for land. The mini Earth is ready. Let it dry.
  • Make a hole in the ball and insert the stick through it.
  • Make a small hole through the cap. Insert and lock the stick using glue.
  • Pry open a paper clip and stick the ends to the Earth. (Refer to video)

Encourage your child to talk about the different continents and oceans. You may also encourage them to mark them out on the globe with a pen.
